Responsibilities
- Assist classroom teachers in implementing instructional strategies tailored to the needs of multilingual learners.
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students in their academic work, focusing on language acquisition and comprehension.
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and parents to enhance understanding and engagement in the learning process.
- Help create and adapt educational materials to support multilingual learners in various subjects.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers regarding individual student needs and challenges.
- Collaborate with special education staff and other professionals to support students with additional learning needs.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to supporting multilingual learners.
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment that respects and celebrates linguistic and cultural diversity.
- Assist in the administration of assessments and evaluations for multilingual learners.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher or school administration.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree or higher preferred, or successfully completed the ParaPro Assessment (Praxis Exam).
- A strong understanding of language acquisition processes.
- Experience working with students in an educational setting, preferably with multilingual or diverse populations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and families.
- Knowledge of culturally responsive teaching practices and strategies for supporting English Language Learners (ELLs).
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to a positive school culture.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and a passion for supporting diverse learners.
- Background check and clearance as required by school district policies.
