This part-time position involves working closely with teachers and students to provide assistance in a variety of classroom settings. Responsibilities
- Assist classroom teachers in implementing instructional plans and activities for students, particularly those who require additional support.
- Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring to students in reading, writing, and math.
- Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and engagement, providing feedback to teachers as needed.
- Help prepare instructional materials and classroom resources to enhance learning experiences.
- Support students in developing social skills and positive behaviors.
- Assist with classroom management and maintain a safe and organized learning environment.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to identify student needs and implement appropriate interventions.
- Participate in professional development and training as required.
Requirements
- 2 years of college, an AA degree, or successfully completed the ParaPro Assessment (Praxis Exam)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, teachers, and parents.
- Ability to remain patient, calm, and supportive in challenging situations.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software relevant to special education.
- Ability to lift and assist students as needed for mobility and participation in activities.
- Willingness to undergo background checks and comply with school district policies and procedures.
This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The employment “at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and approved by the Board of Trustees of District 411.
All recommendations for hire are tentative offers. Employment is contingent upon board approval, and successful completion of a federal background check and drug-free workplace pre-employment screening.
