Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and manage appointment scheduling using dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Perform patient intake procedures, including updating medical histories and explaining treatment plans clearly.
- Assist the dental team during procedures by preparing instruments, taking x-rays, and ensuring patient comfort.
- Manage front desk duties including answering multi-line phones with professional phone etiquette, checking patients in and out, and handling patient inquiries efficiently.
- Verify insurance coverage, process claims using CPT coding and ICD coding standards, and follow up on unpaid medical or dental claims through systems like Meditech or Epic.
- Maintain accurate dental records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by reviewing documentation for completeness and confidentiality.
- Support medical billing processes by reviewing documentation, coding procedures accurately, and managing collections for outstanding balances.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a dental office setting or medical administrative support role with familiarity in dental terminology and medical billing practices.
- Strong computer skills including proficiency with dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic or Meditech, and Microsoft Office suite.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security.
- Ability to perform dental coding using CDT codes, ICD-9/10 codes, and familiarity with Medicare guidelines is highly desirable.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and record keeping.
- Exceptional customer service skills paired with professional phone etiquette for handling front desk responsibilities confidently.
- Prior clinic or dental office experience is preferred; candidates should demonstrate strong clerical skills including data entry (10 key typing), and multi-line phone system operation.
