Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental prophylaxis, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain optimal oral health.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and dental records to ensure safe and effective care.
- Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
- Take and interpret digital medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive measures, and treatment plans tailored to pediatric and general dentistry needs.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities, medical records, and treatment notes in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Follow HIPAA guidelines strictly to protect patient privacy and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
Qualifications
- Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with WV Board of Dentistry requirements.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control standards, and aseptic techniques.
- Experience working with pediatric patients and in pediatric dentistry is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or SoftDent for documentation review and record keeping.
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs effectively and communicate clearly.
