Position Summary

Job Purpose:

The Training & Technical Assistance Lead is responsible for strengthening the organizational capacity of Recovery Community Organizations (RCOs) throughout Florida by designing, coordinating, and delivering statewide training, technical assistance, and organizational development support. This position works directly with existing and emerging RCOs to enhance organizational infrastructure, strengthen peer workforce development, improve governance and operational practices, and promote implementation of recovery-oriented best practices.

Effective Date:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Training Development & Delivery

  • Design, develop, and facilitate statewide trainings that strengthen Recovery Community Organizations.
  • Develop curricula, toolkits, guidance documents, and implementation resources.
  • Coordinate subject matter experts and guest presenters as needed.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and recommend continuous improvements.

Technical Assistance & Capacity Building

  • Conduct statewide and regional organizational capacity assessments with existing, emerging, and prospective Recovery Community Organizations to identify strengths, gaps, workforce development needs, and opportunities for system improvement.
  • Identify organizational strengths, challenges, and technical assistance needs.
  • Provide individualized coaching, consultation, and implementation support to Recovery Community Organizations, recovery stakeholders, and community partners.
  • Assist organizations in strengthening governance, policies, procedures, strategic planning, and operational systems.
  • Support implementation of evidence-informed recovery support services, peer recovery best practices, and recovery-oriented approaches.
  • Identify statewide trends, barriers, workforce gaps, and opportunities for improvement that strengthen recovery infrastructure and ecosystem development.
  • Support quality improvement activities and recovery ecosystem enhancement efforts informed by statewide assessments, stakeholder feedback, and implementation findings.

Workforce Development

  • Support development of Florida’s peer recovery workforce through education, mentoring, and professional development activities.
  • Identify workforce development needs and recommend training opportunities.
  • Promote best practices related to peer support, recovery community organizations, and recovery-oriented systems of care.

Collaboration & Partnership Development

  • Collaborate with the Statewide Coordinator to schedule and implement technical assistance activities.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with Recovery Community Organizations, statewide partners, and community stakeholders.
  • Participate in statewide meetings, learning collaboratives, and recovery-focused initiatives.

Program Evaluation & Continuous Improvement

  • Track technical assistance activities and training outcomes.
  • Maintain required documentation and reports.
  • Analyze participant feedback to improve future technical assistance efforts.
  • Contribute to project evaluation and continuous quality improvement activities.

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Certified Recovery Peer Specialist (CRPS) or equivalent state-recognized peer recovery credential. 
  • Minimum of three years of experience providing peer recovery support, workforce development, organizational development, training, technical assistance, or program implementation. 
  • Experience developing and facilitating trainings or educational programs. 
  • Knowledge of Recovery Community Organizations, peer support services, and recovery-oriented systems of care. 
  • Excellent written, verbal, facilitation, and presentation skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and provide technical assistance to diverse organizations. 
  • Valid driver's license required. 
  • Proof of current automobile insurance required. 
  • Access to reliable transportation required for statewide travel responsibilities. 

Training

  • Remains informed about local, state, and federal standards and regulations pertaining to the provision of services to the youth, adults and their families.
  • Attend trainings and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Seeks additional workforce development outside of agency trainings.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of current trends and developments in recovery by reading books, journal articles, and relevant materials.

Competencies Required

  • In process to become a Certified Recovery Peer Specialist (CRPS).
  • An understanding of the skills required to be a Peer Specialist.
  • An understanding of the values and ethics of a Peer Specialist.
  • An understanding of the recovery process and how to use their own recovery story to support others.
  • Effective use of wellness, recovery and self-care skills in their own life.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond and respect the cultural diversity of individuals and families and the community and respond to their needs without prejudice.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally.
  • Knowledge about resources available in community.
  • Knowledge and awareness of boundaries and ethics to maintain a professional relationship with individuals, community stakeholders, and board members.
  • Good organizational, verbal and written skills.
  • Basic computer skills including the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, E- mail, and the Internet.
  • Ability to endorse vision, mission, and values of South Florida Wellness Network, Inc.

Pay: $65,000.00 per year
