At South Dakota State University (SDSU) 4-H Programs, we are dedicated to providing youth with supportive adults, hands-on learning experiences, and opportunities to reach their full potential. SDSU Extension 4‑H is a community that provides experiences where young people learn by doing. Kids complete hands-on projects in areas like health, science, agriculture and citizenship, in a positive environment where they receive guidance from adult mentors and are encouraged to take on proactive leadership roles. Kids experience 4‑H through in-school and after-school programs, school and community clubs and 4‑H camps. We recognize that the youth of today are our future leaders and what they learn and experience in 4-H will help them develop into contributing citizens who will give back to their communities in the future.
This position is located in Murdo and White River, South Dakota.

Job Responsibilities: Provide timely 4-H Youth Development research based information, resources, education, leadership and support to meet the needs of youth in the county and/or reservation while building relationships to enhance and carry out the mission of SDSU Extension.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of:
- Computer systems and software (i.e., MS Word, Outlook, Excel);
- Planning, teaching, and evaluating educational programs for a variety of youth audiences; and
- Supervisory techniques.
Skill & Ability to:
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal communication skills;
- Use effective written communication skills;
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills;
- Work as a contributing member of a team;
- Plan events and manage a budget; and
- Collaborate on funding proposals or grants to support new and/or enhanced programming.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Child, Youth, or Human Development, or other relevant fields with relevant youth development experience;
- Previous 4-H or similar youth development experience;
- Demonstrated use of technology in managing and/or delivering educational programs; and
- Experience in publishing materials and/or curricula.
Required License: Valid driver’s license
