Position Overview:
We are looking for a dependable Lead Safety Coordinator with a background in manufacturing, ideally within the forest products industry. As the Lead Safety Coordinator, you will help drive safety compliance, oversee safety program implementation, and support the continuous improvement of our workplace safety culture. This is a leadership role that works closely with employees, supervisors, and management teams to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the execution and continuous improvement of safety programs across multiple manufacturing departments and facilities.
- Conduct site audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Oversee accident investigations and ensure timely reporting and corrective actions.
- Maintain safety training and refresher course programs, including New Hire Orientations and topic-specific sessions (LOTO, Fall Protection, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, Oregon OSHA, and company safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, trainings, incidents, and near misses.
- Support supervisors and employees in identifying safety needs and implementing preventative solutions.
- Assist with emergency preparedness and response planning, including drills.
- Help lead internal safety committees and employee safety engagement activities.
- Manage and promote proactive safety initiatives, including Near Miss reporting and Job Hazard Analyses (JHA).
Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience in a safety-focused role within a manufacturing environment (forest products industry preferred).
- Prior experience with safety software solutions including Basic Safe, Training Today
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, hazard identification, and accident prevention strategies.
- Professional certifications are preferred but not required (e.g., CHST, ASP, CSP).
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to train and coach employees at all levels.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Successful completion of a post-offer drug screen, and background check.
