Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Release Train Engineer (RTE) to lead and coordinate multiple Scrum teams within the Cash & Liquidity domain at Northern Trust. The ideal candidate will drive Agile execution, ensure seamless release delivery, and promote SAFe best practices across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and monitor the health and progress of releases across multiple Agile teams.
- Align delivery with Cash & Liquidity strategic priorities and organizational goals.
- Identify, track, and manage risks, issues, and dependencies; escalate when necessary.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to define project scope, timelines, and expectations.
- Facilitate backlog creation, prioritization, and refinement to ensure value-driven delivery.
- Lead and facilitate all Agile ceremonies, including:
- PI Planning
- Sprint Planning
- Daily Stand-ups
- Reviews & Retrospectives
- Release Planning & Demos
- Serve as a servant leader to Scrum teams, fostering a high-performing Agile culture.
- Remove impediments by coordinating with cross-functional teams and leadership.
- Provide transparent communication and regular status updates to stakeholders.
- Resolve conflicts through effective facilitation, negotiation, and problem-solving.
- Track Agile metrics such as velocity, burn-down charts, and backlog health.
- Coach and mentor teams on Scrum practices and SAFe framework adoption.
- Drive continuous improvement and Agile maturity across teams.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 12 years of experience in IT with strong Agile project management expertise.
- Proven experience working as a Release Train Engineer (RTE).
- Deep understanding of SAFe Agile framework and Agile methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with Scrum practices and ceremonies.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple teams and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to support extended working hours if required.
Preferred Qualifications
- SAFe RTE Certification (highly preferred)
- Experience in financial services or banking domain (especially Cash & Liquidity)
