Our Client is seeking an experienced Inventory & Materials Control Supervisor to lead inventory integrity, purchasing operations, and workflow scheduling within a dynamic production environment.
This role is ideal for a detail‑driven operations professional who excels in inventory management, vendor coordination, scheduling, and continuous improvement. The position plays a critical part in ensuring accurate stock levels, efficient purchasing, and streamlined service support.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Integrity & Control
- Oversee accuracy, integrity, and timely restocking of all inventory, including spare parts.
- Manage on‑site inventory operations such as repairs processing, part pulling, timestamping, and stocking.
- Monitor vendor‑supplied materials, staying within departmental budgets and recommending changes to stock levels and reorder points.
- Analyze inventory records, resolve discrepancies, and support semi‑annual physical inventory audits in collaboration with Accounting and auditors.
- Maintain cross‑reference systems and monitor nonconforming parts.
- Recommend reduction or transfer of slow‑moving or obsolete materials.
- Ensure all purchases align with efforts to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
Purchasing & Vendor Management
- Source, assess, and manage vendors capable of supplying plant‑level services.
- Research and locate difficult‑to‑source or high‑cost components as needed.
- Expedite late orders, address invoice issues, and support cost‑reduction efforts through an aggressive savings program.
- Place warranty claims with OEMs for defective parts and track resolution.
Operational Support & Scheduling
- Prepare and fulfill requisitions, manage purchase orders, monitor stock levels, and input data into tracking systems.
- Maintain accurate order status and follow up on past‑due materials.
- Assist Customer Service and Operations teams with system parts transactions.
- Create and manage sequential work schedules through a computerized scheduling system, including master schedule creation, workflow planning, and adjusting schedules for unexpected conditions.
Leadership, Quality & Process Improvement
- Support managers and supervisors in staying within budget through accurate inventory and purchasing oversight.
- Participate in training to enhance purchasing, supervisory, and leadership skills.
- Contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives, monitor processes quantitatively, and uphold core values and safety procedures.
- Ensure compliance with ISO standards.
- Maintain process documentation, standards manuals, and support inventory budgeting and turn rate accuracy.
- Prepare performance data reports, including 4‑up charting.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of related experience or 7 years of combined education and experience.
- Strong ability to read and understand written instructions, prepare basic correspondence, and communicate effectively in one‑on‑one or group settings.
- Solid math skills, including fractions, decimals, ratios, percentages, and interpretation of bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common‑sense problem solving to written, oral, or diagram‑based instructions.
