Our client is looking for a Supply Chain Specialist to manage and optimize inventory, purchasing, and material flow processes to support efficient operations. This role is responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring the timely availability of materials while driving cost efficiency and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory & Materials Management
- Maintain accurate inventory levels, including spare parts and stock items.
- Manage receiving, storage, issuing, and tracking of materials.
- Monitor stock levels, analyze usage trends, and recommend optimal reorder and stocking strategies.
- Identify and resolve inventory discrepancies and participate in periodic physical inventories.
Procurement & Vendor Management
- Oversee purchasing activities to ensure cost-effective procurement within budget.
- Source, evaluate, and manage vendor relationships for parts, materials, and services.
- Track purchase orders, expedite delayed shipments, and ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Handle warranty claims and coordinate replacement of defective items with suppliers.
Operations Support
- Support maintenance and operations teams by ensuring availability of required components.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to align inventory and procurement with operational needs.
- Assist with system transactions related to parts and materials.
Process Improvement & Cost Optimization
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize inventory levels.
- Identify slow-moving or obsolete inventory and recommend actions such as reduction or redistribution.
- Contribute to cost reduction programs and report progress to management.
Planning & Scheduling
- Support scheduling and workflow planning using system-based tools.
- Adjust schedules and priorities to address operational changes and delays.
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and maintain documentation, reports, and performance metrics.
- Collaborate with finance and audit teams to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, with typically 3 years in supply chain, inventory, or related roles (or equivalent combination totaling 7 years).
- Strong understanding of inventory control, procurement processes, and materials management.
- Ability to analyze data, perform calculations, and interpret reports.
- Good communication skills with the ability to interact across teams and stakeholders.
