Senior Transportation Director
Location: Phoenix, AZ, United States
We are seeking a Senior Transportation Director to lead transportation engineering teams and manage complex infrastructure projects from concept through delivery. This is a senior leadership role combining technical oversight, project management, and business development responsibilities.
The role involves working across public and private sector transportation projects, including state DOTs, municipalities, and regional agencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage transportation design teams to deliver infrastructure projects
- Identify, pursue, and secure new transportation engineering opportunities
- Develop and manage project scope, budgets, schedules, and deliverables
- Oversee subconsultant engineering services and coordination
- Act as primary interface with public and private sector clients
- Conduct and lead stakeholder and project coordination meetings
- Collaborate with office leadership and project managers to allocate resources
- Manage quality assurance and quality control processes
- Build and maintain strong client relationships and support business development
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license (Arizona preferred)
- 15 years of experience in transportation project management and business development
- 10 years of experience working with DOT or public infrastructure projects preferred
- Proven track record delivering transportation infrastructure projects for government agencies
- Strong leadership and team management experience
- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Office and transportation engineering tools (e.g. Civil 3D, OpenRoads, InRoads, GeoPak)
- Experience with project accounting and financial oversight
