Role Overview
A global agribusiness organisation is seeking a Senior Financial Reporting Analyst to support monthly financial close activities and the preparation of quarterly and annual SEC filings.
The role is responsible for helping ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial statements and related disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
This is a highly visible position with exposure to senior finance leadership and cross-functional stakeholders. The successful candidate will work closely with the Financial Reporting team, Corporate Accounting, Tax, Treasury, Legal, Sustainability, Communications, and external auditors.
The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical and research skills, excellent communication abilities, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
SEC Reporting & Financial Disclosures
- Support the end-to-end preparation, coordination, and execution of quarterly and annual SEC filings, including Forms 10-Q and 10-K and ad hoc Form 8-K filings.
- Assist with the preparation, review, and reconciliation of financial statements, footnotes, and related disclosures.
- Ensure reporting materials are consistent with U.S. GAAP, SEC requirements, and established reporting practices.
- Support the administration of SEC reporting platforms such as Workiva/Wdesk, including document roll-forwards, data collection, certifications, XBRL tagging, and review.
- Partner with Corporate Accounting, Tax, Treasury, Legal, Sustainability, Communications, and other stakeholders to gather and validate information required for financial disclosures.
- Review outsourced XBRL and iXBRL tagging for accuracy, completeness, and consistency with reported financial information.
- Support external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits.
- Research new accounting standards and assess their potential financial reporting and disclosure implications.
- Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to document accounting conclusions and implement reporting changes where required.
Monthly Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Support monthly accounting activities contributing to internal and external financial reporting.
- Prepare and reconcile equity accounts and support cash flow statement preparation.
- Prepare monthly journal entries, supporting schedules, and related accounting documentation.
- Coordinate with accounting teams and other stakeholders to resolve reconciling items, data gaps, and timing differences.
- Support preparation of monthly financial reporting packages.
- Maintain and enhance supporting schedules and documentation for quarterly reviews, annual audits, and SEC filings.
- Support governmental reporting and survey submissions by coordinating data requests, validating information, and maintaining supporting documentation.
Process Improvement & Reporting Efficiency
- Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency, accuracy, quality, and reliability of financial reporting processes.
- Support improvements to reporting workflows, documentation standards, and financial reporting tools.
- Leverage tools such as Workiva, BlackLine, Excel, automation, and emerging technologies to reduce manual effort and execution risk.
- Identify gaps within the external reporting control environment and support improvements to documentation and review controls.
- Continuously improve the clarity, consistency, and presentation of financial disclosures.
- Contribute to a collaborative, accountable, and continuous-improvement-focused reporting environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline with relevant accounting coursework.
- 4 years of progressive experience in public accounting, corporate accounting, financial reporting, audit, or a related finance/accounting role.
- Experience supporting quarterly accounting and financial reporting processes.
- Exposure to SEC filings, including Forms 10-Q and 10-K.
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
- Understanding of financial statement presentation and disclosure requirements.
- Experience coordinating activities across multiple stakeholders in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong analytical, research, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver accurate work within tight reporting deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA qualification strongly preferred.
- Public accounting experience and/or experience supporting quarterly reviews and annual audits for a public company.
- Prior experience with SEC reporting and disclosure management platforms such as Workiva/Wdesk.
- Experience using automation, emerging technologies, or AI-enabled tools to improve reporting processes.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience working with large ERP systems such as SAP or similar platforms.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and financial statement disclosures.
- Strong process improvement mindset with an ability to improve the efficiency and scalability of reporting processes.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across functions.
