About the Role
A leading healthcare and life sciences manufacturer is seeking a Quality Lab Senior Supervisor to oversee night shift operations within a Quality Control Microbiology Laboratory. This leadership role is responsible for managing laboratory personnel, ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standards, supporting microbiological testing activities, and driving continuous improvement across laboratory operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day operations of the QC Microbiology Laboratory during the assigned shift.
- Supervise, coach, and develop laboratory staff through training, performance management, and regular feedback.
- Assign workloads, prioritise laboratory activities, and ensure testing is completed accurately and on schedule.
- Conduct non-conformance investigations and support quality documentation using electronic quality systems.
- Review laboratory documentation, test results, and reports to ensure compliance with procedural and regulatory requirements.
- Troubleshoot laboratory processes and equipment issues while supporting investigation activities.
- Cross-train across microbiology laboratory functions to provide operational support and technical guidance.
- Ensure compliance with FDA, cGMP, GLP, USP, and internal quality standards.
- Promote laboratory safety and enforce appropriate safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and other quality-related projects as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, or another Life Sciences discipline.
- Minimum 5 years' laboratory experience, preferably within the pharmaceutical or medical device industry, or a Master's degree with relevant applied experience.
- Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques and microbiological testing in accordance with FDA, cGMP, GLP, and USP standards.
- Experience supervising laboratory teams and managing personnel.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organisational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality and compliance.
