We are seeking an experienced Director of Operations to provide strategic leadership for large-scale construction operations. This executive-level role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, optimizing project execution, enhancing profitability, and developing scalable systems that support organizational growth and long-term success.

Working closely with senior leadership, you will guide project management, field operations, and support teams to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Strategy

  • Provide leadership and oversight for daily construction operations across multiple projects.
  • Partner with executive leadership to develop and implement strategies that support growth, efficiency, and profitability.
  • Translate business objectives into actionable operational plans and field execution strategies.
  • Establish performance metrics, accountability structures, and operational best practices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, workflow efficiency, and project outcomes.

Project & Operations Management

  • Ensure projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with client expectations.
  • Lead and support Project Managers, Field Supervisors, and operational teams.
  • Monitor project schedules, workforce deployment, material planning, and resource utilization.
  • Foster collaboration between field operations, project teams, and leadership.
  • Resolve operational challenges and remove barriers that impact project performance.

Workforce Planning & Resource Management

  • Develop workforce planning strategies to ensure appropriate staffing across projects.
  • Review labor forecasts and staffing requirements to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  • Coordinate with preconstruction and planning teams to align workforce capacity with project demands.
  • Support employee development initiatives that strengthen technical and leadership skills.
  • Optimize resource allocation while maintaining quality, safety, and operational standards.

Financial Performance & Profitability

  • Drive operational performance through effective cost control, planning, and accountability.
  • Monitor key financial indicators, including:
  • Labor productivity
  • Job cost performance
  • Resource utilization
  • Change management
  • Budget adherence
  • Forecasting accuracy
  • Identify and mitigate operational and financial risks.
  • Support revenue growth, profit objectives, and overall business performance.
  • Implement strategies that improve operational efficiency and profitability.

Planning & Risk Management

  • Collaborate with planning and estimating teams to evaluate resource requirements and project risks.
  • Review construction schedules, sequencing plans, and execution strategies.
  • Analyze project documentation to identify operational impacts and potential challenges.
  • Proactively manage schedule risks, labor constraints, and project dependencies.
  • Support successful project delivery through effective planning and coordination.

Safety & Quality Leadership

  • Promote and reinforce a strong safety-focused culture throughout the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and strengthen procedures that support safety, consistency, and quality outcomes.
  • Monitor performance metrics and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational effectiveness.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Build, mentor, and develop high-performing operational teams.
  • Establish clear expectations, performance goals, and accountability standards.
  • Provide coaching and leadership development for project and field leaders.
  • Foster a collaborative, professional, and results-driven culture.
  • Support succession planning and long-term leadership growth initiatives.

Continuous Improvement

  • Evaluate existing operational processes and identify opportunities for enhancement.
  • Implement scalable systems, procedures, and controls that support organizational growth.
  • Improve reporting capabilities, KPI tracking, and project visibility.
  • Drive initiatives focused on efficiency, consistency, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
  • Lead change management efforts that strengthen overall operational performance.


Qualifications

Education

  • Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Equivalent industry experience will be considered.

Experience

  • Extensive leadership experience within construction operations, contracting, or related industries.
  • Proven success managing multiple projects and operational teams simultaneously.
  • Strong background in workforce planning, project execution, and operational management.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve operational performance, efficiency, and profitability.
  • Experience leading teams in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
