Associate Director, Real World Data Strategy | Life Sciences
A leading global pharmaceutical and life sciences organisation is seeking an Associate Director, Real World Data Strategy to help drive the strategic use of real-world data across R&D and enterprise initiatives.
This role will focus on data strategy, governance, acquisition, product development, analytics enablement and the creation of AI-ready data foundations. The successful candidate will work across a highly matrixed environment, partnering with stakeholders to ensure data investments deliver measurable business value.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the development and execution of real-world data initiatives aligned with R&D and enterprise priorities
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business needs into data-driven solutions
- Drive prioritisation and delivery of data and analytics initiatives
- Identify, evaluate and utilise internal and external data assets
- Support the end-to-end data lifecycle, including acquisition, management and enablement
- Ensure data quality, consistency, accessibility and usability across platforms
- Collaborate with product, engineering and analytics teams to develop scalable data solutions
- Promote standardisation, reuse and efficient utilisation of enterprise data assets
- Support data governance, compliance and regulatory requirements
- Enable analytics, reporting and advanced AI/ML use cases
- Drive stakeholder engagement, communication and adoption of data capabilities
- Monitor progress, risks and outcomes and provide structured updates to leadership
- Contribute to continuous improvement of data strategy, frameworks and processes
Requirements
- Advanced degree in life sciences, data-related disciplines or an MBA
- 5 years of experience in data strategy, analytics, consulting or real-world data
- Strong understanding of real-world data sources, including claims, EHRs, registries and other healthcare datasets
- Experience within healthcare, life sciences or the real-world data ecosystem
- Proven ability to operate effectively within cross-functional, matrixed environments
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Excellent communication and executive-level storytelling capabilities
- Strong strategic thinking, business acumen and execution skills
- Experience with data strategy, data products and analytics ecosystems
- Understanding of data governance, compliance and data lifecycle management
- Experience with demand management, prioritisation and programme delivery
- Ability to translate business requirements into scalable data and analytics solutions
- Strong programme management and organisational skills
- Understanding of AI/ML data readiness and modern data platforms
