Our Client is seeking an experienced AVP, Specialty Underwriting & Portfolio Management - CSL who can operate with a high level of independence and demonstrate deep expertise in credit risk management. In this role, you will take the lead on complex transactions, guide junior team members, and play a key part in shaping deal execution and portfolio strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Underwriting Responsibilities:
- Underwrite leveraged finance transactions for new and existing clients.
- Lead due-diligence efforts, evaluate findings, and identify key strengths, risks, and mitigants.
- Provide guidance to less experienced team members on financial statement and cash flow analysis.
- Review financial models independently and evaluate structuring options with the deal team.
- Prepare and present credit approval materials; mentor junior contributors through the process.
- Oversee closing activities and review final documentation.
- Draft term sheets, commitment letters, and related credit documents with minimal oversight.
- Begin negotiating credit documentation with leadership guidance.
- Drive the full deal execution process and coordinate communication across internal and external partners.
Portfolio & Asset Management Responsibilities:
- Manage an assigned portfolio independently, monitoring account performance and identifying emerging issues.
- Anticipate risks and apply insights from comparable accounts to inform recommendations.
- Partner with the Portfolio Management team to ensure timely completion of annual reviews and credit modifications.
- Support quarterly portfolio reporting and help maintain data accuracy.
- Ensure adherence to credit policies and procedures for all managed accounts.
- Respond promptly to inquiries from internal stakeholders and external partners.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Build collaborative relationships across business and functional teams.
- Maintain strong client relationships while balancing risk, profitability, and long-term partnership value.
- Mentor analysts and junior associates; support training and development efforts.
- Contribute to internal initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and strengthen business management.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or military experience
- At least 5 years of experience in credit underwriting, portfolio management, or asset management
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- 7 years of experience in credit underwriting, portfolio or asset management
- Prior experience providing leadership or guidance within deal teams
Salary : $175,500 - $200,300
