Who We Are
Sope Creek Capital is a family office founded in 2018 by Kevin Nolan, who has built multiple $1B supply chain companies. We're hiring this role for our portfolio company, the Road Warrior Family of Companies - a growing platform that acquires and grows heavy-duty truck parts and repair businesses. Small office, South Charlotte, fast-moving. If you want to build something from the ground up, this is the seat.
The Role
This is our first dedicated HR hire. You'll be building the function from the ground up - no inheriting a well-oiled machine, no large team to hand things off to. You'll own payroll, benefits administration, onboarding, compliance, and employee relations across our portfolio of companies.
You'll work directly with our leadership team and interact regularly with employees at every level - from entry-level shop mechanics to shop managers to the founders of businesses we bring into the family. If you're not comfortable talking to a technician on the shop floor the same way you'd talk to a business owner in a conference room, this probably isn't the right fit. What You'll Own
- Payroll - end-to-end processing, accuracy, and compliance across multiple entities
- Benefits Administration - managing enrollment, carrier relationships, and employee questions
- Onboarding - building and running a consistent experience for new hires across our companies
- Compliance – working with our in-house legal counsel, maintaining proper documentation, keeping us out of trouble
- Employee Relations - being a trusted, no-nonsense resource for employees and managers alike
- HR Infrastructure - building the policies, processes, and systems that don't exist yet
What We're Looking For
- 3-4 years of HR experience, with hands-on exposure to payroll, benefits, and onboarding
- Comfortable operating with a playbook in progress - you will build parts of it
- Strong communicator across all levels, including hourly and skilled trade employees
- Detail-oriented and organized; payroll and compliance don't forgive sloppiness
- Low ego, high output - you'll be doing the work, not directing it
- Experience in a multi-entity or multi-location environment is a plus
- Knowledge of the trucking, fleet, or trades industry is a plus but not required
