Junior Staff Accountant

Soni is partnering with a well-established professional services firm to identify a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Staff Accountant. This role is ideal for someone with foundational accounting knowledge who is eager to grow their skills in a professional environment. The Junior Staff Accountant will assist with daily financial operations, cash applications, accounts payable, reconciliations, and reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with firm policies and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with accounts payable, including rush checks
• Apply cash receipts to accounts receivable
• Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts regularly
• Help manage client trust accounts in compliance with legal and ethical guidelines (e.g., IOLTA)
• Prepare and post journal entries with supporting documentation
• Process expense reports and reimbursements
• Maintain organized financial records
• Assist with sales and use tax reporting, including preparation of work files for filing
• Participate in external audits as required
• Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 2–4 years of accounting experience
• Basic understanding of general accounting principles
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and analytical thinking
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in a law firm or professional services environment
• Familiarity with accounting software such as 3E or similar platforms
• Prior exposure to client trust or escrow account management

Compensation: $74,000 - $80,000

Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
