Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Technology to lead and oversee enterprise technology operations across a large, multi-site organization. This individual will be responsible for developing and executing the organization's technology vision while ensuring reliable, secure, and innovative technology services that support operational, administrative, and end-user needs.
The Director of Technology will provide leadership for infrastructure, cybersecurity, networking, end-user computing, telecommunications, website and digital platform management, and technical support services. This role is responsible for managing technology personnel, budgets, vendor relationships, and long-term technology planning to ensure a secure, efficient, and scalable technology environment aligned with organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Leadership & Strategy
- Develop, implement, and maintain the organization's technology strategy and roadmap.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that enhance operational efficiency and business outcomes.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to align technology initiatives with organizational goals.
- Represent the organization within professional technology associations, committees, and industry groups.
Infrastructure & Operations
- Oversee the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of enterprise technology infrastructure, including networks, servers, telecommunications systems, cloud services, and end-user devices.
- Manage Cisco networking, Microsoft Windows environments, VMware infrastructure, virtual desktop technologies, and Google Workspace environments.
- Ensure reliable operation of LAN, WAN, wireless, and cloud-based technologies.
- Maintain accurate inventories of hardware, software, licensing, and technology assets.
Cybersecurity & Risk Management
- Develop and maintain cybersecurity policies, standards, and best practices.
- Lead initiatives related to data protection, risk mitigation, disaster recovery, business continuity, and incident response planning.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and industry regulations related to technology and information security.
- Safeguard the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of organizational information systems.
Budget & Vendor Management
- Develop and manage the annual technology budget.
- Evaluate, negotiate, and oversee technology contracts, vendors, and service providers.
- Research, recommend, and procure hardware, software, and technology services.
- Monitor expenditures and maximize return on technology investments.
End-User Technology & Business Support
- Partner with business leaders and operational teams to promote the effective use of technology solutions.
- Support technology adoption initiatives and user training programs.
- Serve as a liaison between technology services and organizational departments.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity through technology-enabled solutions.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop technology staff, including network engineers, systems administrators, technicians, and support personnel.
- Oversee staffing, performance management, professional development, and employee evaluations.
- Establish service standards and ensure timely support for all technology users.
- Manage help desk operations and support processes.
Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
- Provide regular communication regarding technology initiatives, upgrades, outages, and system changes.
- Maintain strong relationships with leadership, employees, vendors, and external stakeholders.
- Develop and distribute technical communications and documentation as needed.
Additional Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with software licensing and copyright regulations.
- Review system performance, usage, maintenance, and operational reports.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive technology leadership experience.
- Demonstrated supervisory and team management experience.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise hardware, software, networking, and cybersecurity technologies.
- Experience managing Cisco, Windows, VMware, virtual desktop, and Google Workspace environments.
- Strong project management, organizational, and prioritization skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to successfully pass required background screening.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred
- Master's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Leadership, or a related field.
- Experience supporting complex, multi-site organizations.
- Experience leading cybersecurity, disaster recovery, and business continuity programs.
- Familiarity with enterprise business applications, cloud platforms, and data management systems.
- Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, PMP, CCNP, VMware, Microsoft, or related credentials.
Compensation: Up to $150,000 annually
Compensation is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
