The Director of Finance oversees all financial activities of the hotel or hospitality organization. This role is responsible for managing accounting operations, preparing financial reports, ensuring compliance with regulations, developing budgets and forecasts, safeguarding assets, and supporting strategic financial planning. The position partners closely with the General Manager and corporate leadership to drive profitability and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, income audit, and general ledger.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with company standards and applicable regulations (e.g., USALI – Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry).
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to ownership and corporate office.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and maintain internal controls over financial transactions.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts in coordination with department heads and the General Manager.
- Provide variance analysis and performance commentary to highlight risks and opportunities.
- Monitor departmental spending and assist leaders in achieving financial goals.
Cash & Asset Management
- Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and working capital requirements.
- Oversee credit policies, collection procedures, and cash handling controls.
- Safeguard company assets through proper control systems and audits.
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax laws, hotel licensing, and reporting requirements.
- Maintain strong internal control systems and support both internal and external audit processes.
- Implement financial policies and procedures in alignment with company standards.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Supervise and mentor the finance and accounting team.
- Collaborate with operational leaders to drive revenue enhancement and cost control initiatives.
- Provide financial insights to guide strategic decision-making.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (Master’s or CPA preferred).
- Minimum 5–8 years of progressive financial management experience, preferably within hospitality (hotel, resort, or restaurant group).
- Strong knowledge of USALI, GAAP, and financial systems Opera
Skills & Competencies:

Compensation: $165,000 to $185,000 annually
Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
