What are the responsibilities and job description for the Academic Manager position at Soni?
We are partnering with a higher education organization seeking an Academic Manager. The Academic Manager will oversee key academic, financial, and human resources functions for the department.
Responsibilities:
- Manages the hiring, reappointment, and payroll processes for student officers, casual staff, and work-study students. Oversees related HR transactions, prepares job postings, and collects hiring requests and supporting documentation.
- Coordinates internally to address administrative, visa, and immigration matters.
- Maintains accurate appointment and personnel records, prepares budgets, and tracks actual expenses for assigned personnel categories.
- Collaborates with faculty, students, and teams to gather information on incoming and continuing students, verifying status, funding type, payment methods, and support levels.
- Prepares, reviews, and distributes transactional and analytical reports related to personnel, onboarding, payroll, and student accounts using financial and administrative systems.
- Proactively identifies and implements opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, accuracy, and quality across all work areas. Initiatives include developing a comprehensive departmental student database and creating an automated workflow for funding approvals to streamline processes and improve data management.
- Collaborates with student leaders on annual planning and provides guidance in developing and managing budgets to support group activities and events.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree
- 2 yrs’ experience in payroll, finance, administration, etc.
- Advanced excel skills
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in academic planning, academic affairs or student affairs
- AP or Purchasing experience
Compensation: $27-33/hr
Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
