What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Accountant position at SolomonEdwards?
Privately held manufacturing company is looking to hire an experienced Accountant to be a key member of the Corporate Accounting team due to continued growth. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the following:
- Participate in the monthly close and reporting process in accordance with GAAP
- Prepare and/or review journal entries and account reconciliations
- Maintain the fixed assets register, ensuring all additions, disposals, and transfers are properly recorded
- Book depreciation on a monthly basis
- Monitor Construction in Progress (CIP) Accounts to ensure asset costs are accumulated accurately and completely
- Manage the company's lease portfolio, reviewing lease agreements to identify key terms and embedded leases. Ensure proper lease accounting under ASC 842
- Perform accounting research to determine proper classification and recording of transactions
- Facilitate fixed asset physical inventories, verifying existence and valuation of assets
- Track budgets to actuals monthly, analyzing and researching discrepancies
- Assist with upcoming ERP implementation
- Identify ways to create efficiencies or automate processes
- Perform detailed analysis of accounts to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
- Facilitate annual audits, providing documentation, support, and explanations
- Participate in special projects
The Senior Accountant should possess the following:
- BS in Accounting or Finance
- 2-5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong GAAP knowledge
- Proficient with Excel
- Self-starter with the desire to learn
- Excellent communication skills
