Job Title: CT Technologist (Travel)
Department: Radiology – CAT Scanning
Location: Morristown, NJ 07960
Shift: Friday, Saturday, Sunday | 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Hours: 39 Hours per Week (13-hour shifts)
Job Summary
The CT Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality computed tomography (CT) imaging procedures while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and exceptional customer service. The technologist demonstrates clinical expertise in CT imaging, contrast administration, patient assessment, emergency response, equipment operation, quality assurance, and departmental workflow coordination. The role requires adherence to departmental protocols, regulatory standards, and patient privacy requirements while collaborating closely with radiologists, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Imaging Services
- Perform CT imaging procedures according to established departmental protocols.
- Verify patient identity in accordance with hospital policy.
- Explain procedures to patients and families before, during, and after examinations to reduce anxiety while maintaining privacy and dignity.
- Assess patients for contrast tolerance and screen for allergies or medication incompatibilities.
- Observe patient condition before, during, and after contrast administration and report any significant changes to nursing staff and radiologists.
- Ensure patient medical records, laboratory results, imaging history, and prior reports are available before procedures.
- Initiate emergency response measures when necessary during patient complications.
Contrast Administration & Venipuncture
- Perform venipuncture procedures according to established protocols.
- Administer contrast media utilizing approved power injector protocols.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions and respond appropriately.
- Maintain adequate supplies of contrast media and related procedural materials.
Workflow Coordination
- Prioritize and coordinate scheduled, emergent, trauma, and unscheduled CT procedures.
- Ensure timely communication with departments and patient care units regarding procedure status.
- Coordinate efficient patient flow and transport following procedures.
- Assist in maintaining departmental productivity while ensuring patient safety.
Imaging Quality & Documentation
- Acquire, process, transmit, and verify images within PACS/RIS systems according to established protocols.
- Expedite image processing and communication for urgent studies including Code Grey, Trauma, and Partial Trauma cases.
- Notify radiologists immediately when urgent images are available for review.
- Communicate unusual findings promptly to radiologists to support optimal patient care.
- Prepare and maintain accurate requisitions and procedural documentation.
Equipment & Quality Assurance
- Perform daily, monthly, and ACR-required quality assurance and quality control activities.
- Recognize unusual operating conditions and equipment malfunctions.
- Report equipment issues promptly to leadership.
- Maintain CT scanners, gantries, tables, and peripheral equipment according to departmental standards.
- Participate in routine cleaning and disinfection after each patient use.
Inventory & Supply Management
- Maintain adequate stock of linens, contrast media, biopsy supplies, and drainage supplies.
- Participate in daily inventory management and stocking activities.
- Assist with CT storeroom organization and inventory control.
- Identify and report expired or soon-to-expire supplies, equipment, or medications.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Required Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Completion of an accredited School of Radiography or College-Based Radiography Program required.
Certifications & Licensure
- ARRT Registered Technologist in Radiography [RT(R)] required.
- ARRT Registered Technologist in Computed Tomography [RT(CT)] required.
- New Jersey State X-Ray License (NJDEP) required.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification required.
- Venipuncture competency required.
- CT registration and CPR certification mandatory.
Experience
- CT imaging experience preferred.
- Experience working in a fast-paced hospital environment preferred.
- Trauma and emergency imaging experience preferred.

Pay: $80.00 per hour
