Dispatcher

We are currently seeking an Assistant Dispatcher to join our operations team. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role supporting daily dispatch operations and working directly with drivers, customers, and terminals to ensure freight moves efficiently and on time.

Position Overview

The Assistant Dispatcher will work closely with dispatch and operations staff to coordinate driver schedules, communicate with customers and vendors, and respond to real-time issues throughout the day. This role requires strong communication, organization, and the ability to stay focused under pressure.

Training will be provided for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

• Communicate with drivers throughout the day to track progress and adjust schedules
• Dispatch intermodal containers and coordinate with ports, rail ramps, and warehouses
• Communicate delays, updates, and schedule changes to customers
• Provide clear and accurate load instructions to drivers
• Identify accessorial charges (detention, storage, prepulls, etc.) and obtain approvals
• Create and update daily load plans, identifying and resolving issues
• Maintain accurate records and provide updates to the Operations Manager

Qualifications & Skills

• Strong communication skills (phone, email, and in-person)
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Basic computer skills (Excel, Outlook, Word)
• Problem-solving mindset and ability to stay calm under pressure
• Previous dispatch, logistics, or customer service experience is a plus
• Intermodal or trucking experience preferred but not required

Compensation

• $60,000 – $75,000 per year (based on experience and ability)
• Opportunity for increased compensation based on performance
