Provide specialized nursing care in a dynamic ER holding unit, supporting patients boarded in the emergency department. Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to PCU patients in the ER holding area, with patient-to-nurse ratios typically at 4-5 to 1, adjusted as needed based on acuity
- Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry using Spacelabs monitors, documenting and saving strips accurately in patient charts
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy available 24/7 for ABGs, breathing treatments, and ventilator troubleshooting
- Coordinate with imaging and transport techs to facilitate patient X-rays and CT scans without delay
- Participate in department-specific orientation during the first week to ensure seamless integration into the team
- Provide care for patients with cardiac, neurological, orthopedic, and critical care diagnoses
- Follow dress code policies with navy scrubs and adhere to schedule requirements including every other weekend and holiday shifts as needed
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Active Georgia or Compact RN license with current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Minimum 2 years recent PCU experience or at least 1 year PCU combined with 1 years in Tele, ER, or ICU
- Successful completion of at least one prior travel nursing assignment demonstrated by recent references
- Ability to work within a 100-mile radius as per strict compliance guidelines
- Strong critical thinking and communication skills in fast-paced settings
Schedule/Hours:
- Variable shifts based on department needs
- Weekend coverage every other weekend
- Holiday shifts as required
- No call or standby responsibilities
