Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Fairfax, VA

An opportunity is available for a full-time Teachers for the Visually Impaired (TVI) to support K-12 students within the Washington DC area. This contract role focuses on delivering specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, ensuring their educational development and success.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individualized instruction and support to an average caseload of 22 students per teacher with visual impairments
• Develop and implement educational plans tailored to the needs of visually impaired students
• Collaborate with school staff and families to facilitate student learning and accessibility
• Conduct student assessments and maintain progress documentation
• Ensure compliance with Virginia Department of Education certification requirements and school policies
  
  

Qualifications

• Active Virginia DOE Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Experience teaching students with visual impairments in a K-12 setting preferred
• Ability to manage a caseload of approximately 22 students effectively
• Complete required clearances including Virginia Department of Social Services check and TB test promptly
• Strong communication and organizational skills to coordinate with educators and families
  
  

Location & Schedule:

• This position is based in the Washington DC area, approximately 45 minutes south of DC
• Full-time position with 37.5 hours per week
• Contract duration: Immediate start through May 29, 2026
• On-site only; no remote or hybrid options
