Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialized instruction and support to visually impaired students across multiple schools
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students visual needs
- Collaborate with school staff, parents, and related service providers to promote student success
- Maintain caseload records and participate in necessary meetings and trainings
- Adapt materials and teach necessary skills to increase independence in academic and functional activities
- Active Louisiana DOE Certification as Teacher for the Visually Impaired is required
- Experience working with visually impaired students preferred; all experience levels considered
- Ability to manage an itinerant caseload across various school locations
- Successful completion of required district drug screening and fingerprinting
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Full-time, 35 hours per week (7 hours daily plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch), Monday through Friday aligned with the school calendar
- Assignment will be itinerant across multiple schools in the New Orleans area
