A school district in Jackson, NJ is seeking a skilled Special Education Teacher to support students from kindergarten through second grade for a contract position lasting until the end of the current school year. This role involves working within a self-contained classroom designed to meet the unique needs of students on the autism spectrum.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction tailored for K-2 students with autism spectrum disorder.
• Manage a caseload of 8 students, ensuring individualized education plans (IEPs) are effectively implemented.
• Collaborate closely with two assigned paraprofessionals to foster a supportive and engaging classroom environment.
• Monitor student progress and communicate with families and school staff on developmental and academic goals.
• Maintain compliance with state and district special education guidelines.

Qualifications:

• Active Standard or Teacher of the Handicapped licensure valid in New Jersey is required.
• Experience working with young children on the autism spectrum preferred.
• Strong classroom management skills and ability to lead a self-contained special education classroom.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with paraprofessionals, families, and school personnel.
