Social Worker | Meriden, Connecticut

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, active Social Worker license and minimum 1 years School Social Work experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A contract full-time opportunity is available for a School Social Worker to provide essential support to students in grades K-6 during a maternity leave assignment. This position spans approximately eight weeks*, with tentative dates from mid-March to mid-May, and a possibility of an earlier start. The role involves managing a caseload of around 30 students, including those with mandated IEPs, 504 plans, and other interventions.

Responsibilities include:

• Conducting 504 meetings and assisting with crisis intervention
• Collaborating closely with school staff and the school psychologist
• Supporting students social and emotional needs to foster a positive learning environment
• Utilizing the Special Education Data System (CT-SEDS) to maintain accurate records and documentation
• Ensuring compliance with Connecticut state education guidelines and certifications

Desired qualifications and experience:

• Valid Connecticut 071 Certification required
• Prior experience working in social work within school settings, especially with special education populations
• Familiarity with CT-SEDS or similar IEP management systems is strongly preferred
• Strong crisis management, communication, and collaboration skills
