Retail Pharmacy Tech - Irwin, Pennsylvania

An established specialty retail pharmacy seeks an experienced Pharmacy Technician for a contract-to-hire opportunity in Irwin, PA. This role requires a motivated professional to fill an urgent vacancy, supporting a committed team that manages a complex patient population.

This pharmacy specializes in serving patients with chronic illnesses who often require 8-15 medications daily. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, patience, and a solid understanding of the top 200-400 medications commonly dispensed in retail settings. Prior specialty retail pharmacy experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accurately prepare and dispense medications for patients with complex, chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and multiple sclerosis.
• Provide compassionate patient care, particularly to Medicare/Medicaid and low-income populations with potentially low literacy levels.
• Utilize Pioneer Rx software (training available if needed).
• Collaborate effectively with pharmacists and healthcare providers to optimize patient outcomes.
• Maintain detailed records in accordance with PA Board of Pharmacy guidelines.
  
  

Qualifications/Desired Experience

• Previous retail and/or specialty pharmacy technician experience is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated expertise in working with patients managing chronic diseases.
• National certification (PTCB) is highly preferred but not mandatory.
• Registration with the Pennsylvania Board of Pharmacy is required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-focused approach.

• Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM 5:00 PM (No weekends)
• Lunch break from 12:30 PM 1:00 PM

• Contract duration: 13 weeks with potential for contract-to-hire based on performance.
