Retail Pharmacy Tech - Butler, Pennsylvania

An opening opportunity is available for an experienced Retail Pharmacy Technician at a specialty retail pharmacy serving complex patients who typically manage 8-15 medications daily. This role requires exceptional communication skills and patience, with a strong grasp of the top 200-400 drugs commonly found in retail settings. Candidates with specialty retail experience are highly preferred.

Position Details

• Location: Butler, PA
• Type: Contract to Hire
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM 5:00 PM (lunch 12:30 PM 1:00 PM)
• Start Date: Immediate
• Duration: 13 weeks, with potential to convert to permanent if a good fit
  
  

Responsibilities

• Assist in filling prescriptions accurately and efficiently for a diverse patient population, including Medicare/Medicaid beneficiaries
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, many of whom manage chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, or multiple sclerosis
• Support pharmacy operations utilizing Pioneer Rx software (prior experience preferred, training available)
• Collaborate with care teams to ensure medication safety and adherence for patients with low literacy levels and complex health needs
  
  

Qualifications And Desired Experience

• Proven experience as a retail or specialty pharmacy technician
• Strong patient communication skills, specifically with chronic disease populations
• Experience working with specialty medications preferred
• Registered with the Pennsylvania Board of Pharmacy; nationally certified (PTCB) preferred but not required
• Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive patient interactions with empathy and professionalism
