Key Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists by entering medication orders, performing pharmaceutical calculations, and filling prescriptions accurately
- Use automated pharmacy systems such as Parata and Pyxis for inventory management and medication distribution
- Conduct regular inventory checks, restock medications, and maintain pharmacy equipment, including daily cleaning of IV Hood and pharmacy areas
- Monitor medication storage conditions such as refrigerator temperatures and ensure compliance with safety standards
- Manage controlled substances documentation and emergency Pyxis machine refills
- Provide courteous patient service by answering refill requests, handling inquiries appropriately, and processing unclaimed prescriptions
- Maintain detailed records and assist pharmacists in quality assurance activities
- Current Alaska Pharmacy Technician license (required)
- PTCB certification (required)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in hospital, ambulatory clinic, or retail pharmacy settings
- Proven knowledge of drug names, pharmaceutical terminology, pharmacy law, and automated pharmacy technology
- Strong skills in sterile compounding and hazardous drug handling
- Effective communication skills to triage patient questions and collaborate with healthcare staff
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and respond quickly during emergencies
- Must have received the flu vaccination
- Start date contingent on fingerprint clearance, with fingerprinting appointment to be scheduled promptly upon acceptance
