An opportunity for an experienced retail pharmacy technician is available in Lorain, OH, on a contract to hire basis. This role focuses on specialty retail pharmacy, supporting patients with complex medication regimens typically involving 8-15 medications daily. The position offers the chance to work with a dedicated pharmacy serving a unique patient population facing chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, multiple sclerosis, and rheumatoid arthritis.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately according to prescriptions
- Communicate effectively and compassionately with patients, many of whom have low health literacy and are managing multiple chronic conditions
- Collaborate with pharmacists and healthcare providers to ensure seamless patient care
- Maintain pharmacy inventory and support daily operational tasks in a specialty retail setting
- Provide patient education to enhance understanding of treatment regimens
Qualifications:
- Licensed Pharmacy Technician in Ohio
- Experience working in retail or specialty pharmacy environments is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of the top 200-400 commonly prescribed medications
- Exceptional communication skills with patience and empathy toward patients with advanced chronic diseases
- Ability to work with diverse patient populations, including Medicare/Medicaid and low-income individuals
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
This 13-week contract begins immediately with the potential for permanent placement. Candidates with a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification are preferred but not required.
