Per Diem Retail Staff Pharmacist in Pittsburgh, PA

A specialty retail pharmacy is seeking two experienced per diem pharmacists to provide exceptional care for complex patient populations. This role emphasizes thorough medication consultation and disease state management, all within a compassionate, patient-centered environment.

Location:

• Pittsburgh, PA
  
  

Schedule/Hours

• Per diem, as needed
• Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Coverage will be on several regular dates to support the pharmacys operations
  
  

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert consultation for patients managing multiple chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and multiple sclerosis
• Manage complex medication regimens, often involving 8-15 medications per patient
• Communicate effectively with patients who may have low literacy and require patience and empathy
• Utilize Pioneer Rx software for dispensing and patient record management
• Deliver personalized, quality care in a specialty retail setting focused on patient outcomes rather than volume
  
  

Desired Experience & Qualifications

• Strong background in retail and/or specialty pharmacy settings; specialty pharmacy experience highly preferred
• Proven ability to manage and consult on chronic, advanced disease states
• Excellent communication and patient consultation skills with a compassionate approach
• Familiarity with Medicare/Medicaid populations and understanding of challenges related to low-income and low-literacy patients
• Valid Pennsylvania pharmacist license
• Experience with Pioneer Rx software is a plus
