Unit Details
- 24 beds with a consistent patient census of 21-23
- Patient ratios vary by acuity: 2:1, 1:1, or 1:2
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to pediatric patients with complex diagnoses such as respiratory conditions, trauma (including non-accidental trauma), DKA, seizures, neurosurgical cases, renal failure, orthopedic and surgical patients, transplants, blood disorders, and more
- Utilize critical care skills including vasoactive drip titration, invasive line management, ventilator/tracheostomy care, CRRT, sedation and analgesic drip management, bedside procedures, and discharge planning
- Manage advanced technology and equipment such as EPIC EMR, Alaris and Medfusion pumps, Belmont Rapid Infuser, Artic Sun, Camino ICP monitoring, and more
- Float between Pediatric CVICU, NICU, Neonatal PCU, and General Pediatrics as needed
- Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team including intensivists, APPs, RTs, residents, IV/VAT teams, phlebotomy, and unit secretaries
- Participate in a 2-day unit-specific orientation plus neonatal orientation
- Minimum 2 years of strong high-acuity Pediatric ICU experience
- RN license with current BLS and PALS certifications
- Competency in EPIC and essential critical care equipment
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, demanding environment
- Ability and willingness to float to Pediatric CVICU during assignment
- No call required for travelers
