K-5 Special Ed Teacher - Schenectady, New York

A school in Schenectady, NY is seeking 1 to 2 Special Education Teachers for grades K-5 to support children on the autism spectrum ages 5-8 in a self-contained classroom setting. This contract position runs ASAP through June 19th, with the possibility of renewal for the 20262027 school year.

Position Details

• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM 3:30 PM (including a 30-minute unpaid break), approximately 35 hours per week
• Caseload: Children on the autism spectrum, ages 5-8, in a self-contained classroom
• Number of openings: 1 or 2
  
  

Qualifications

• Must hold or be actively working toward a New York State Special Education (Students with Disabilities) teaching license
• Recent graduates with a Masters degree or out-of-state licensed candidates are encouraged to apply, as license transfer support may be available
• Bachelors degree candidates considered; Masters degree preferred
• Proven experience writing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) is essential

• Deliver specialized instruction tailored to individual student needs within a self-contained classroom environment
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Collaborate with school staff and families to support student growth and development
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with state guidelines
