What We’re Looking For:
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (national or state recognized)
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) at an advanced or fluent level
- Previous experience interpreting for children in a school or educational setting preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents
- Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive classroom environment
Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one interpreting services for a designated elementary student throughout the school day
- Facilitate communication between the student, peers, and educational staff
- Support the student’s academic growth by interpreting during lessons, activities, and classroom discussions
- Consult with teachers and special education personnel to ensure accommodations are effective and appropriate
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
- Respond flexibly to dynamic classroom and school needs
