Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1 year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Desired Qualifications

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with contemporary interpreting techniques
• National or state certification (such as EIPA, RID, or equivalent) preferred
• Previous experience interpreting in educational or school settings
• Ability to accurately and impartially interpret spoken classroom content into ASL, and vice versa
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality

Key Responsibilities

• Provide interpreting services for students in classroom settings, assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities
• Collaborate with teaching staff and support personnel to fully understand and convey lesson content and classroom discussion
• Support students’ participation in classwork, instructions, peer interactions, and school functions
• Adapt interpreting style and vocabulary based on student needs, grade levels, and lesson complexity
• Uphold ethical standards and adhere to policies regarding confidentiality and student privacy
• Participate in relevant training, meetings, or student support teams as needed
