What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Assurance Manager - Solar Installation position at Solar Detach & Reset?
Quality Assurance Manager – Own the Standard on Every Solar Reset
Solar Detach and Reset is Arizona's solar detach-and-reset specialist. When a home with solar gets a new roof, we remove the panels and reinstall them after the roof is done. Our reputation with roofers and homeowners rests on one thing: every system goes back on the roof right, and nothing leaks.
We're hiring a Quality Assurance Manager to own that standard. You'll manage our install crew leads, make sure every reset is inspected, catch problems before the homeowner does, and turn every miss into a lesson so it doesn't happen again.
Pay:
- $60,000 – $70,000 per year salary, based on experience
- Company vehicle and tools for field audits
Why work here:
- W2 employee. Every crew member is in-house; we don't use subcontractors
- Health, dental, and vision insurance, plus paid time off
- Paid training and certification reimbursement
- Manufacturer-certified with Tesla, Sunrun, SunPower, SolarEdge, Enphase, and SMA
- 7,500 projects completed. Licensed AZ ROC 331356. Arizona Roofing Contractors Association board member.
- Real authority: QA findings stand, and you report to the General Manager
What you'll do:
- Manage our install crew leads: hold them to our quality standard, coach and develop them, run their performance reviews, and have real input on hiring and discipline
- Make sure every completed reset is audited on site within 4 business days, using our inspection checklist: mounts, flashing and sealing, torque, wiring, and system production
- Photo-document every inspection in Housecall Pro before leaving the driveway
- Fix small issues on the spot; book a go-back for anything bigger and track it until it's done
- Classify every defect (crew error, roofer damage, equipment, design) so the right party owns the cost
- Run the morning desk routine: missed-QA catch-up, job pipeline health, and tomorrow's crew sheets
- Meet with crew leads daily and turn QA failures into short training lessons for the field team
- Flag change orders to Sales, and keep homeowners and roofers updated when a QA finds something
- Report weekly on QA on-time rate, first-time pass rate, and go-backs
What you need:
- 3 years of residential solar installation, service, or QA experience, including time as a crew lead, foreman, or inspector
- Experience supervising people: you've assigned work, given feedback, and held a team accountable
- You know what a correctly flashed and sealed mount looks like on comp shingle and tile roofs
- Comfortable on residential roofs, including tile, in Arizona heat
- Organized and persistent: nothing slips, and you close the loop on every open item
- Can hold experienced crews to a standard: direct, respectful, no drama
- Comfortable with field software, photos, and simple reports (Housecall Pro or similar a plus)
- Valid driver's license and a driving record that qualifies for a company vehicle
- Must pass a background check
- Must live in the Phoenix metro area (in-person role, based in north Phoenix, 85086)
Nice to have:
- Tesla, Enphase, or SolarEdge certifications
- NABCEP, OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
- Roofing background
- Bilingual English / Spanish
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
Benefits:

- Health insurance
- Paid time off
- Professional development assistance
- Vision insurance
Work Location: In person
Salary : $60,000 - $70,000
