Job Overview
We are seeking a professional and compassionate Front Desk Receptionist with cross-coverage responsibilities as a Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. This role involves providing exceptional patient service, managing administrative tasks, and supporting clinical functions across outpatient and inpatient settings. The ideal candidate will have experience in healthcare, hospital medicine, urgent care, or related medical environments, with a strong foundation in medical terminology and patient care procedures. The position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic healthcare environment, supporting both front desk operations and clinical support functions as needed.
Duties
- Greet and check-in patients efficiently while maintaining a welcoming environment
- Manage patient intake processes, including collecting vital signs and updating medical records in EHR systems
- Assist with patient scheduling, appointment confirmations, and follow-up coordination
- Support clinical staff with basic medical support tasks such as taking vital signs, ICD coding, and assisting with medication administration when necessary
- Cross-cover as a Medical Assistant by supporting procedures such as X-ray preparation, basic anatomy and physiology assessments, and outpatient care activities
- Handle patient inquiries professionally via phone or in person, ensuring excellent patient service standards
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient interactions and clinical notes in compliance with healthcare regulations
- Support hospital medicine or emergency medicine teams during high-volume periods or specific clinical needs such as Level I or Level II trauma center activities
- Assist with administrative duties including data entry, insurance verification, and managing electronic health records (EHR) systems
Qualifications
- Prior experience in healthcare, dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, outpatient clinics, or similar healthcare settings is preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of customer service experience required.
- One year of healthcare, reception, or medical office experience preferred.
- Medical Assistant Certificate
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding, and medication administration practices
- Certification or training in Basic Life Support (BLS) is highly desirable
- Experience with EMR systems (PatientNow preferred).
- Strong patient service skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments such as Level I Trauma Centers or emergency departments
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail are required for success in this role
- Flexibility to support cross-cover duties across clinical areas and front office setting
- Must pass all background and compliance checks.

Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour
