TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:
Length of position: 12 months, year round.
Hours: 40 hours, Full-Time
Location: Flexible within the state of Texas- Dependent on regional needs.
SUMMARY:
Performs highly advanced (senior-level) consultative services and technical assistance to support Statewide Outreach Center (SOC) at Texas School for the Deaf (TSD). Performs complex program and project management work involving coordinating the planning and initiation of program and project activities at various levels of completion; monitoring the progress and schedule of projects and activities; and communicating with external stakeholders, management, and other relevant parties. Work also involves consultative services and technical assistance to parents, families, program staff, governmental agencies, community organizations, or the general public. Assumes leadership as assigned and prioritized by the SOC Director. Works under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. This position works remotely from their assigned area, attending meetings in Austin Texas as needed and plays a crucial part in raising awareness, building relationships, and facilitating the center’s outreach initiatives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Outreach Project Management
- Coordinates, develops, oversees, and assesses designated SOC projects.
- Formulates project budgets, timelines, task schedules, resource allocations, and cost projections.
- Regularly evaluates project expenditures to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints and identifies opportunities for optimizing project efficiency.
- Oversees the execution of a diverse array of technical, training, research, planning, policy development, program evaluation, and administrative tasks within designated SOC programs.
- Collaborates with the SOC Director to contribute to project planning, resource development, and the acquisition of supplementary support through grants, corporate partnerships, and alternative funding sources.
Outreach Strategy Development
- Collaborates with the outreach team to create comprehensive outreach plans and strategies.
- Identifies target demographics and communities for engagement, staying current on effective outreach methods.
Community Engagement
- Acts as a liaison between the center and the community or target audience.
- Cultivates and sustains relationships with community organizations, leaders, and stakeholders through active participation in events and meetings.
Outreach Events and Initiatives
- Organizes and coordinates outreach events, workshops, professional development, and awareness campaigns.
- Prepares outreach materials, presentations, and promotional content.
- Ensures logistics, scheduling, and follow-up activities are well-executed.
Media and Communication
- Contributes to communication strategies for the center, encompassing social media, email campaigns, and newsletters.
- Supports the creation and dissemination of outreach materials while maintaining a responsive and positive online presence to address inquiries.
Data Collection and Reporting
- Collaborates with the SOC team to gather and evaluate data on outreach and community engagement initiatives.
- Utilizes data to refine strategies for improvement.

Minimum Qualifications:
- 3 years experience in leading in K-12 deaf education settings.
- Three years of professional experience in the management of staff, budgets, and resources.
- Experience designing, planning, executing, supervising, and evaluating strategic plans, programs, resources, workshops, conferences, or special projects.
- Travel to Austin is required for mandatory meetings, training, and as requested by the SOC Director.
- Sign Language: The ultimate required proficiency level for the position using the levels designated in the Sign Language Proficiency Interview (SLPI) is ADVANCED. If hired with a sign language proficiency level below this level, you are required to participate in signed communication learning opportunities on a regular basis until you have achieved the sign language proficiency level assigned to your position. Must have at least a minimum level of INTERMEDIATE.
QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED
- Master's degree in Deaf Education or related field specializing in working with deaf and hard of hearing individuals, and their families from an accredited college or university.
- Five years of professional experience coordinating outreach, or related services for a school, university, or non-profit organization.
- Experience presenting to large audiences including families and professionals
- Experience working with the Texas Education Agency, Deaf Education programs, and Early Childhood providers.
- Certifications related to language acquisition for children who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Fluency in Spanish.
