Position Summary:

Under the supervision of a trainer assigned by Table Games Management, responsible for attending training to become certified to deal the game(s) in which they are training for.

Dealer Trainees are required to attend training at the dates and times as determined by Table Games Management. Attendance is mandatory and failure to adhere to the training schedule may result in release from the training and may include disciplinary action up to and including dismissal. Applicants with prior dealing experience or those new to dealing the game(s) covered in training who display a propensity for dealing may test out earlier by completing written and table tests and achieving a passing score of 80% or higher on both tests.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Attend training as scheduled.
  • Be punctual.
  • Show continued progress learning the content covered in class.
  • Must be willing and able to follow directions.
  • Learn the house shuffle and be able to complete a six-deck house shuffle in less than 2 minutes.
  • Learn the procedures for dealing the game(s) in which they are training for per the established Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Be able to correctly pay various winning bets per the established payouts for the game(s) they are training for with applicable odds.
  • Exchange paper currency for playing chips.
  • Run a smooth and orderly game.
  • Observe and properly maintain the bankroll for assigned table.
  • Remain attentive to players and alert trainer to any suspicious action.
  • Ensure all bets on tables conform to the prescribed table limits.
  • Drop currency and fill, credit, and inventory slips in appropriate drop area.
  • Sign all pit paperwork including fill, credit, and inventory slips in a legible manner.
  • Ensure that gaming equipment is suitable for use on a live game and alert trainer if it is not.
  • Learn to assist inventorying table bankroll.
  • Pass on all pertinent information regarding table to other dealers when being relieved.
  • Learn to start, pause, and end player ratings in addition to entering cash and moving players when dealing on games that possess a dealer workstation for the Player Rating System.
  • Promote a fun, energetic welcoming atmosphere both on and off of assigned game.
  • Assist guests with questions regarding table games or other subjects pertaining to SECR.
  • Conduct oneself per the established departmental and SECR policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that tips are properly paid, secured, reported and accounted for as defined by departmental SOP.
  • The above duties and responsibilities are not an all-inclusive list but rather a general representation of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position. The duties and responsibilities will be subject to change based on organizational needs and/or deemed necessary by management.
  • At the conclusion of training, Trainee`s must pass both a written and table test with a minimum of 80% proficiency on both in order to earn their certification.

Contacts/Purpose Of Contacts:

  • Contact with assigned trainer to learn policies and procedures for the games in which they are training for.
  • Contact with members of Table Games Management during the training process for instruction and testing.
  • Contact with other trainees during training to help each other learn by simulating dealing on a live game.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a gaming license to meet the employment eligibility requirements as they pertain to the position.

License, Certification, Or Special Requirements:

  • Native American preference shall apply to all positions.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of public relations and customer service.
  • Skills in mathematics to include the ability to calculate figures, amounts, discounts, commissions, ratios, odds and percentages.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Ability to control the pace of the game.
  • Ability to perform duties and deal with others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures.
  • Ability to periodically write required
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, supervisors and management and associates from other departments.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent repetitive use of hands, wrists, fingers, shoulders and arms associated with dealing.
  • Required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Frequent walking throughout casino and resort.
  • Frequent standing and sitting at game tables for extended period of time.
  • Regularly required to talk and hear.
  • Frequent bend, twist, stoop, grasp, reach, push and pull while dealing.
  • Ability to determine colors, shapes, numbers, letters and symbols both up close and from a distance through natural or corrective vision.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Work Environment:

  • Frequent walking and standing in a smoking environment. Constant visual stimulation via neon lights on slot machines, repeatedly changing machine video screens, static or flashing signs throughout the casino and constant machine and crowd noise.
  • May encounter and deal with intoxicated and/or belligerent guests.
  • Ability to work all shifts.
  • Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
