The Reliability Engineer plays a critical role within the site maintenance department, ensuring full coverage of plant assets through the application of vibration analysis and thermal imaging technologies to support equipment reliability.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and analyze data from rotating equipment to ensure reliability and continued safe operation of plant equipment.
- Utilize predictive maintenance technologies, including vibration analysis, infrared thermography, ultrasound, and NDT testing (such as thickness, hardness, and metal composition).
- Perform vibration monitoring of rotating equipment, including running condition monitoring and specialized diagnostic testing.
- Conduct complex analysis of vibration, ultrasound, and thermal imaging data to assess machine health and reliability.
- Determine corrective actions and recommendations to improve equipment performance and reliability.
- Collect, interpret, and analyze data to support repairs, maintenance activities, and new projects to maximize equipment uptime.
- Perform baseline and acceptance testing of new and rebuilt equipment.
- Develop and maintain vibration databases, trend data, balance records, equipment history, and monthly reports.
- Perform predictive analysis to identify equipment vulnerabilities and potential end-of-life conditions.
- Conduct advanced testing, including resonance, phase, and cross-channel phase analysis.
- Enter and manage work orders in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), clearly defining required corrective actions.
- Follow up on work orders to verify completion and ensure established standards are met using measurable criteria.
- May perform minor repairs or equipment replacement as needed to support maintenance efficiency and uptime.
- Vibration Analyst Certification beyond ISO Level II, or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
- Infrared Thermography Certification beyond ISO Level II, or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
- Comply with all SSHE (Safety, Security, Health & Environmental) policies, procedures, programs, regulations, and company directives.
- Actively participate in identifying and preventing unsafe acts and conditions.
- Maintain awareness of primary SSHE hazards and risks in the work area and the safeguards in place to mitigate them.
EDUCATION:
- Must possess a degree in Engineering, preferably Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or a related discipline.
- Preferred: 2 years of post-graduate experience.
- 3 to 5 years of experience as a maintenance engineer.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Familiarity with SAP is preferred.
- Familiarity with Emerson 2140 and MHM database systems preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Analytical ability with expertise in maintaining rotating equipment and troubleshooting related issues.
- Knowledge of equipment operation, maintenance, and repair, including reading blueprints, schematic drawings, manuals, and P&IDs.
- Ability to troubleshoot, adjust, install, and repair plant equipment and mechanical systems (including pumps, valves, and process lines).
- Ability to recommend improvements to equipment, piping, or systems to enhance plant safety and performance.
- Proven track record of prioritizing safety, quality, production, and environmental compliance.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to motivate, prioritize, and organize work in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to identify issues, follow through, and implement effective solutions.
- Strong sense of urgency with willingness to support production operations as needed to maintain efficiency.
- Strong teamwork skills with ability to work collaboratively with shift team members to meet maintenance goals.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, hardhat, gloves, and respirator.
- Must be able to work in extreme heat, humidity, elevated areas, confined spaces, and near heavy machinery.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, and operate a forklift.
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and hazardous environments.
- Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and other scheduled shifts as required by the plant.
- Must be available for emergency call-in when required.
