Block Yard Manager, Must have Concrete Block Experience

Our client company was founded in Orlando over sixty years ago and began with just the founder and two employees. They manufactured concrete block three days a week and delivered block three days a week depending on demand. The founder's spouse was technically a fourth employee, but she was not on the payroll. She would spend Florida days without air conditioning, sitting in her car doing the bookkeeping because they had no office. As time went on, they conservatively grew their business from one plant to five plants under a single roof. This successful team worked together for over fifty-two years. Now, the company is managed by the third generation of the family with twelve other locations besides Orlando.

The company has an immediate need for a Block Yard Manager to oversee multiple operations based our of Orlando.

Position Summary

The Block Yard Manager leads all block yard operations for the company throughout Florida. This role is responsible for yard performance, efficiency, and coordination with Sales, Dispatch, and Plant Operations. The Block Yard Manager ensures product is handled, stored, and delivered in a way that supports fast, accurate, and reliable service to customers. Success comes from strong leadership, clear communication, and tight coordination across teams.

Key Responsibilities

· LMA (Lead, Manage, and hold Accountable) all block yard staff and block drivers

· Ensure yard operations run efficiently across all locations

· Manage inventory flow, organization, and accuracy in each yard

· Coordinate closely with Sales, Dispatch, and Plant Managers

· Support on-time, accurate delivery of manufactured products

· Apply EOS Leadership and Management practices to lead teams and drive results

Success Criteria

· Yards are organized, efficient, and operating smoothly

· Inventory is accurate and easy to locate and move

· Drivers and yard teams are aligned and accountable

· Strong coordination between yard, dispatch, sales, and plants

· Orders are fulfilled accurately and delivered on time

· Yard operations support overall company efficiency and customer satisfaction

Essential duties

· Directly lead and develop yard staff and block drivers

· Oversee loading, unloading, and staging of materials

· Maintain accurate inventory levels and tracking

· Coordinate daily with Dispatch and Plant Managers on priorities

· Monitor yard performance and address issues quickly

· Ensure safe operations and proper equipment use

General duties

· Identify and fix inefficiencies in yard flow and layout
