What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accountant position at SMS group?
As the primary financial lead on-site, you will drive all plant-level accounting, from rigorous budgeting and forecasting to precise financial analysis. You’ll ensure total alignment between local operations and corporate reporting requirements, owning every deadline with high-impact accuracy.

What You’ll Do
Prepare, maintain and ensure accuracy of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS (as required)Prepare and maintain financial budgetsAnalyze data and inform management of significant changes in cost trends, material cost analysis, or customer profitability, which will result in bottom line improvementsResponsible for monthly financial closingsPrepare Balance Sheet GL account reconciliations monthlyReconcile WIP, Storeroom, Accounts Payable, including accruals & Accounts Receivable details to general ledger account balances dailyTimely invoicing to customers and subsequent cost clearingEnsure accuracy of time reporting and accounts payable entry by clerical staffPrepare weekly, monthly and annual forecasts in conjunction with plant managementUnderstand, prepare and analyze key financial metricsPresent and discuss key financial metrics to plant managementMaintain internal controls and compliance initiativesDevelops and prepares historical and analytical information to facilitate the annual budget preparation and presentationReview aged inventory and present information to plant management and develop plans to reduce company liabilityPrepare a wide variety of costing and budgeting reports and analyze information as necessaryMaintain and reconcile fixed asset schedulesDirect, coordinate and supervise activities of assigned personnel and perform supervisory functions at level established by managementAssist plant management in determining and evaluating trends and variances in productionPrepare monthly cash flow and expenditure forecastsProduce ad hoc reports and queries for corporate and plant management
What You Need
Bachelor's Degree (BA) in accounting preferredPreferred 3 plus years accounting experience in an industrial environment Knowledge of GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) as well as some familiarity with IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards)Solid knowledge of internal control principlesStrong financial analysis abilities Strong interpersonal skillsKnowledge of corporate policies and compliance initiatives
