The Role
We’re looking for a skilled Field Service Mechanic to join our Frederick, CO team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of backup generators, heavy equipment, and related electrical systems. The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety and customer service.
What You’ll Do
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on diesel/gas-powered standby generators and heavy equipment
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on generator systems
- Service and repair Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), including bypass isolation and closed transition types
- Conduct load bank testing, start-up, and commissioning of new installations
- Troubleshoot AC/DC circuits, read wiring diagrams, and replace electrical components
- Perform mechanical diagnostics (ignition systems, injection systems, valve adjustments)
- Complete warranty work per manufacturer guidelines
- Document work using Windows-based software, including job reports and photos
- Collaborate with other technicians on complex service calls
- Maintain safety standards and site compliance
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in generator maintenance, service, or installation
- Mechanical/electrical certification or proven repair experience preferred
- Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical and mechanical systems
- Ability to read technical manuals, datasheets, and schematics
- Excellent communication skills (written & verbal)
- Valid U.S. driver’s license; ability to operate a service truck/van (with or without trailer)
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs, work at heights, and handle outdoor conditions
- Comfortable with tablets/digital platforms for service logging
- Owns basic hand tools (specialty tools provided)
- Must be willing to relocate to Colorado
