What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Laborer position at Smith County?
Summary/Objective
The Seasonal Laborer is responsible for operation of light-duty equipment, specifically tractors with mower attachments, for the Road and Bridge department. Seasonal employment will last from May through September and may include work outside of normal business hours.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Mows and maintains road rights-of-way, as assigned by the crew supervisor.
- Reports completed job data to the crew supervisor including, but not limited to, labor and equipment time.
- Upkeeps, care for and stores crew-assigned equipment.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Must be able to safely operate light duty equipment utilized in mowing and right-of-way maintenance operations for an average of six (6) to eight (8) hours per day.
Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as deemed necessary for certain locations by supervisory personnel.
Education and Experience
High School diploma or G.E.D.
Licenses and Certifications
- Must have valid Texas Driver License, Class C or higher.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
Daily sitting, standing, walking, stooping, bending, pulling, reaching and lifting of items possible weighing 40 pounds or more, in an outdoor environment with exposure to sever extremes in weather.
