What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pre-Trial Enforcement Officer position at Smith County?
Under limited supervision within outlined objectives, performs highly responsible work in enforcing conditions of pre-trial bond, collecting urine samples for drug testing purposes, and communicating with the Courts when necessary.
CSCD employees are expected to use professional courtesy, discretion and sound judgment when engaging in any contact with clients, co-workers, court personnel and other employees and the public.
Cannot be employed as a peace officer or work as a reserve or volunteer peace officer; and Cannot currently be on community supervision, parole, or serving a sentence for a criminal offense.
Hours are 8:00am – 5:00pm Monday – Friday. Salary is $42,000.00 with a competitive benefits package. In addition to the online application, a resume and copy of high school diploma/GED are required prior to interview.Although the CSCD is affiliated with Smith County, department employees are not county employees. Open until filled.
- Overall responsibility of management of an assigned caseload.
- Be familiar with current state laws, court directives, and Department policies and procedures and apply them to case management or other situations as they develop.
- Completes all necessary actions for supervision of new cases including initial interview, explanation of conditions of bond.
- Conducts regular office visits and jail visits as required by Department policy and as circumstances warrant.
- Assures that all fees owed by a client is collected an properly recorded.
- Uses all necessary tools of supervision available to the pre-trial officers such as electronic monitoring, urinalysis, office visits, contact with collateral individuals or agencies or any other condition ordered by the Court. (Directly observe and collect urinalysis samples from offenders of the same gender.)
- Monitors compliance/non-compliance and submits required reports to the District Attorney's Office and to the Courts.
- Completes all required documentation as directed by Department policy.
- Attends Court as directed for hearings and provides testimony as required.
- Assures that all information contained in the computer software system on all cases is current, accurate, and entered in a timely manner.
- Prepares reports as required by the Department.
- Any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Department Director.
- Must be a UA citizen or have legal immigrant status.
- Must speak, read and write English fluently.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with all types of people.
- Must have strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Must pass a background check.
- Must pass a drug test.
- Must have the ability to work in a standing position for extended periods of time when observing uranalysis collections.
- Must have the ability to walk frequently when accompanying an individual to and from the lobby area of the building.
- Must be able to accurately see and determine test results on small labels on the urinalysis collection cups.
