Job Description

Smith Brothers Tool Company established in 1981 manufactures a variety of tool fabrication solutions for the Space, Aerospace, and Defense Industries. We are a premier machining, weld fabrication, and tooling shop that provides in-house design, engineering, building, and certification capabilities. Design and tool fabrication includes assembly tools, lay-up tools, large and small checking tools, mill fixtures, and more. Some of our customers include Boeing, Bell Helicopter, GE Aviation, and Honda Aircraft Company. We are looking for the right person to join our team!

CNC Machinist/Operator

• Set up, adjust, and operate CNC milling machines independently (3-axis and 5-axis)
• Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings to meet precise specifications
• Input offsets, edit programs, and make adjustments at the machine controller as needed
• Use precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators) to verify part
  
  

dimensions in-process

• Perform equipment troubleshooting and basic preventive maintenance
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
  
  

Qualifications

• 5 years of CNC milling experience — required
• 3-axis and 5-axis machining experience — required
• Ability to read blueprints and work to tight tolerances
• Strong shop math skills and attention to detail
• Experience with Fanuc, Siemens, Haas, or similar CNC controls — required
• Familiarity with Fidia C20, TPI 2000, or Fadal controls — a plus; training provided on ourspecific equipment
• CNC programming knowledge (G-code, M-code) — preferred
• Experience with CAM software (GibbsCAM or similar) — preferred
• Aerospace manufacturing experience — a strong plus
• Crane operation experience — preferred
