Job Summary:
A hands-on technical position responsible for the safe and efficient setup, changeover, and support of injection molds and related equipment to meet production, quality, and safety requirements. This role supports daily molding operations through mold installation, line clearance, equipment setup, documentation, and startup support. Qualified individuals may assist with process setup and optimization under direction of engineering or supervision.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform all mold changeover functions, including:
- Installation, removal, and alignment of injection molds
- Connection of water lines, hydraulics, electricals, and air lines
- Setup and verification of hot runner systems, mold temperature controllers, and chillers

Install and set up secondary and automated equipment, including:
- Robots, pickers, end-of-arm tooling (EOAT)
- Conveyors, chutes, part separators, and vision systems
- Complete line clearance activities and required documentation per quality and regulatory standards
- Verify correct mold, resin, and auxiliary equipment per work orders and setup sheets

Support mold startups and restarts, including:
- Initial shot approval assistance
- Monitoring for leaks, alarms, and mechanical issues
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, identification, and proper storage of molds, tooling, and auxiliary equipment
- Identify and report equipment, mold, or process issues to Process Engineering or Maintenance
- Assist with general maintenance activities as needed, including preventive maintenance support
- Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and machine guarding requirements
- Maintain regular attendance, professionalism, and compliance with company policies.
- Maintain adequate stock of setup and molding supplies (hoses, fittings, clamps, bolts, etc.) and communicate needs to the responsible individual
- Maintain a high level of organization and cleanliness of mold setup carts and work areas (5S)
- Ensure safe work practices in all assigned tasks, including proper use of PPE
- Participate in mold startups, troubleshooting, and process adjustments if qualified and authorized
- Support continuous improvement, scrap reduction, and downtime reduction initiatives
- Assist with training of less experienced mold setters as assigned
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Associate’s degree in a technical field preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in injection mold setup and changeovers, including secondary and automated equipment

Working knowledge of:
- Injection molding machines and controls
- Mold temperature controllers, dryers, loaders, and chillers
- Common thermoplastic resins and material handling systems
- Ability to read and interpret setup sheets, work orders, and basic technical drawings
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
ADA Requirements:
- Bend, squat, climb, grasp, reach, lift or otherwise move frequently for extended periods
- Lift, move or otherwise transfer up to 50 lbs. frequently, or more occasionally
- Walk, stand or otherwise move about continuously
- Exposure to machine shop physical hazards including chemicals which may require respiratory protection
- Typically sits, grasps items and performs keyboarding for occasional operation of a computer
